Origin

This 63hectare (157 acres) steep slope adjacent to the Saar is south-west facing composed of weathered grey slate and greywacke (quartz-rich sandstone in places transformed into quartzite). Wines from the Ockfener Bockstein are powerful and full-bodied, typically zesty in a distinctive interplay of yellow fruits and minerality.

Vinification

The 100% healthy grapes were harvested in October, gently crushed, and briefly macerated on the berry skins to extract aroma and minerals. The must fermented slowly and spontaneously at low temperature, to perfectly develop a complex fruit aroma. The wine then received an extended stay on its lees in stainless steel tank.
