Origin

The Graacher Himmelreich belongs to the most famous steep slopes in the middle Mosel area. The soil of this vineyard is composed by the typical dark slate. We grow 0.3 ha of Pinot Noir in this site. The vines are planted in 1987, old French selections from Chambolle-Musigny, Burgundy. The Pinot Noirs coming from this terroir impress with unique finesse and great elegance.

Vinification

Meticulous vineyard management and stringent selection at harvest resulted in very healthy and fully ripened grapes. The clusters were almost completely destemmed, then macerated and fermented spontaneously for 4-6 weeks. After gentle pressing with a basket press, the wine was matured in French barriques for 18-24 months.
